The Brief

Jentech Electrical is a family-owned, QLD-licensed electrical contractor in Brisbane (Licence 80766) with a real reputation — 158 five-star Google reviews and a service mix that spans commercial fit-outs, high-end residential renovations, industrial maintenance, and 24/7 emergency callouts. The business positioning is "concierge-style electrical service with the expertise you can count on" — premium, trusted, locally rooted.

The previous website didn't tell that story. It ran on GoDaddy Website Builder 8.0 — a low-end drag-and-drop platform with cookie-cutter templates, generic stock imagery, and the kind of platform tax that any modern competitor could leapfrog overnight. Reviews and licence credentials were buried. AI crawlers were silently blocked. The site felt cheaper than the service it was selling.

The brief: rebuild from scratch on a modern stack that actually matches the brand. Custom design, edge-hosted performance, full SEO infrastructure, conversion architecture built around the way customers actually call an electrician — usually in a hurry, often in an emergency.

The Challenge

Three things made this more than a vanity rebuild:

  • Trade buyers decide fast. When a switchboard trips at 11pm or a commercial fit-out needs an electrician on site Monday morning, prospects don't read About pages — they look for trust signals (licence number, reviews, real team photo) and a phone number. The site had to surface those in the first three seconds.
  • The service mix is broad. Commercial, residential, industrial, emergency, smoke alarms, switchboards, air conditioning, EV charging — eight distinct service lines, each with different intent and different competitive sets. The information architecture had to organise them without burying any of them.
  • Local SEO authority had to be rebuilt. The GoDaddy site had basic indexation but minimal schema, no AI search optimisation, and weak local-pack signals. The new site needed proper ElectricalContractor schema, NAP consistency, and structured data the way Google's local algorithms actually want it.

Before vs After — Quick Audit

We captured the GoDaddy site state pre-rebuild and audited the new Vercel deployment immediately post-launch. The technical and brand jump was night and day.

What Was Delivered

The engagement covered the full rebuild lifecycle — brand audit, custom design, full Next.js development, schema implementation, deployment, and DNS cutover. Concrete deliverables:

Design and brand

  • Custom homepage hero with real team photography (vs the GoDaddy stock-image template)
  • Brand colour system anchored on Jentech green for accent consistency across CTAs and trust badges
  • Premium typography pairing for editorial feel — important for a "concierge-style" positioning
  • Mobile-first emergency-call architecture: tel: link click-to-call always one tap away
  • "Available 24/7 — Emergency Service" badge above the H1 for instant trust
  • Explicit display of QLD Licence 80766 in the hero proof bar — required trust signal for trade buyers

Information architecture

  • Eight service pages structured around real buyer intent — commercial fit-outs, residential renovations, industrial maintenance, 24/7 emergency, switchboards, smoke alarms, air conditioning, EV charging
  • Project gallery surfacing recent named jobs (Helensvale, Paddington, Gold Coast Bundall, etc.) — proof of work for prospects evaluating premium pricing
  • Reviews surfaced in-line at multiple decision points instead of one block
  • Sticky header with three parallel CTAs: Book Online, Call, Request a Quote — covering every buyer's preferred contact mode
  • Footer reorganised around services + locations + emergency contact for crawl + UX

Technical SEO

  • Full ElectricalContractor + LocalBusiness + Service + Person JSON-LD schema deployed across every page template
  • Open Graph + Twitter Card meta on every page for clean social shares
  • Canonical tags site-wide
  • XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console
  • robots.txt explicitly welcoming all 8 major AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, Meta-ExternalAgent, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User)
  • llms.txt authored to help AI systems navigate and cite the business
  • Alt text audited and written for every inline image — accessibility + image-search visibility

Performance and hosting

  • Built on Next.js with Turbopack — modern React framework with edge-rendered static pages
  • Hosted on Vercel edge CDN — sub-second LCP on mobile across Australia
  • Custom domain wired through Vercel with SSL auto-provisioned
  • Image preloading on hero + above-the-fold project gallery for instant visual readiness
  • Core Web Vitals targets met across mobile + desktop

Conversion architecture

  • Click-to-call phone number (07 3914 9696) hard-wired into header, hero, and every service page
  • Booking integration for self-service appointment scheduling
  • Quote-request form with structured fields for trade-specific intake (address, scope, urgency)
  • "5.0 ★ 158 Google Reviews" trust bar with QLD Licence and 24/7 Emergency Response — three credibility signals in one row
  • Mobile sticky CTA bar so the "CALL" button is always one tap away

Key Numbers

  • 1 GoDaddy Website Builder site retired
  • 1 fully custom Next.js application shipped on Vercel
  • 8 AI crawlers explicitly welcomed (was blocked by default on GoDaddy)
  • 8 service-specific pages built for distinct buyer intent
  • 158 Google reviews integrated as live trust signals
  • QLD Licence 80766 surfaced prominently for trade-buyer credibility
  • 3 parallel CTAs at every conversion point (call, book, quote)
  • Full schema package deployed: ElectricalContractor + LocalBusiness + Service + Person + FAQPage

What makes a premium trades site work: the buyer is making a fast trust decision, often during a real problem. Surface licence numbers, reviews, and a phone number above the fold; build emergency-first mobile architecture; integrate booking so prospects can self-serve at midnight; and use real team photography instead of stock. Trades is the easiest vertical to elevate visually because most competitors stay on cheap builders.

The Result

Jentech Electrical now runs on a modern Next.js stack hosted on Vercel's edge — a custom-designed website that visually matches their service quality and ranks alongside the higher-end Brisbane electrical agencies. The site is fully AI-search optimised, eligible for citation by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews when buyers ask questions like "best Brisbane electrician for commercial fit-outs" or "24/7 emergency electrician near me".

The architecture is built for ongoing growth. Service pages can be added without re-paying platform tax. Schema deployment will compound as Google's local algorithms calibrate. The reviews and licence trust signals are now baked into every page rather than buried in a footer. And the team gets a website that finally looks like the business they actually run.
